Few life events are as monumental as welcoming a baby into the world.
When I found out I was expecting, my mind quickly turned to planning a babymoon—a final getaway before entering the exciting, yet overwhelming, world of motherhood.
For me, traveling has always been a way to reset and recharge, so it only made sense to treat myself to one last trip focused on relaxation, wellness, and reflection.
If you’re looking for the perfect babymoon destination that offers sunshine, quiet beaches, and the charm of a small town, Delray Beach, Florida, turned out to be the ideal spot.
The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club at Delray Beach: Historic Charm Meets Beach Bliss
We stayed at The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club in Delray Beach, a gem of a place with old Florida charm.
It’s a historic hotel with only 70 rooms, so you don’t feel overwhelmed by crowds or noise—perfect for a peaceful getaway. With its tropical colors, charming décor, and personalized feel, it was exactly what I needed to unwind.
What really stood out to me was the private beach and heated saltwater pool, exclusive to hotel guests.
Having a serene, secluded spot to relax was such a relief, especially knowing I didn’t have to fight for space or deal with overly crowded tourist spots.
The hotel offers a shuttle to take guests back and forth between the Cabaña Club and the beach, which made everything effortless. No need to worry about driving or parking—just pure relaxation.
I spent my days lounging by the pool, reading a book, and dipping my toes into the ocean.
I made a conscious effort to pause and be present during this time. Several times, I found myself reminding myself to soak it all in—the peace, the quiet, the nothingness of having no responsibilities at that moment except to enjoy the sun, the water, and the space to breathe.
It was exactly what I needed before entering the whirlwind of motherhood.
Eating My Way Through Delray Beach: Healthy and Delicious
Of course, no trip is complete without indulging in some good food, and Delray Beach did not disappoint.
One of my favorite spots was the Delray Beach Market, just a short walk from the hotel.
Every morning, we tried out a new place for a cup of coffee, my favorite was a cappuccino from Deke’s.
There are so many options, and I loved how convenient it was to stroll out and find something fresh and delicious.
When it came to lunch, the Cabana club offered freshly cooked meals, helping me eat well the entire time that left me feeling satisfied and energized.
And for dinner, there was an excellent variety of restaurants all within walking distance.
Being pregnant, I made sure to balance my indulgences with nourishing meals that would keep me feeling good throughout the trip. Staying hydrated was also key—I carried water with me everywhere I went to ensure I stayed refreshed.
If you love quaint coffee shops, great food, and a beachy vibe, Delray Beach has all of that to offer and more.
Delray Beach Lounging and Relaxation: The Perfect Babymoon Formula
Most of my time was spent lounging by the private pool or relaxing on the secluded beach.
It was pure bliss, especially because I knew that once my baby arrived, I wouldn’t have this kind of uninterrupted relaxation for a while.
One of the highlights of the trip was the prenatal massage my partner booked.
If you’re pregnant and planning a babymoon, I highly recommend treating yourself to one.
The massage was the perfect way to release tension, ease any discomfort, and fully relax. It felt like a necessary part of preparing for the next chapter of motherhood—allowing myself to focus on my body and mind, and make sure I was at ease both physically and emotionally.
The whole trip was designed around rest, and I made sure to pace myself.
While it was tempting to stay out in the sun all day, I made sure to take breaks in the shade, stay hydrated, and listen to my body’s needs.
Being mindful of my health on this trip allowed me to feel good the entire time without over-exerting myself.
How the Babymoon Contributed to My Overall Wellness
This trip wasn’t just a vacation—it was about finding mental clarity and preparing for motherhood.
I saw the babymoon as my “last hurrah,” knowing that once my baby was here, traveling like this wouldn’t be quite as easy.
The trip gave me a sense of closure in that way. It was my time to reflect, be at peace, and prepare for the journey ahead.
I focused on being present, not just physically but mentally. I reminded myself to enjoy the calm, the quiet, and the space I had to breathe.
This mindfulness helped me clear my head and gave me the mental clarity I needed to fully embrace what was coming.
I left Delray Beach feeling more centered, peaceful, and ready for motherhood than I had before the trip.
Babymoon Travel Tips: Planning the Perfect Getaway
If you’re considering a babymoon, here are a few tips that made my trip extra special and restful:
- Choose a Relaxing Destination: Make sure your destination is easy to navigate and offers everything you need close by. Delray Beach was the perfect place for this. We had the beach, shops, and restaurants all within walking distance or a quick shuttle ride away, which made the trip stress-free.
- Prioritize Relaxation: The goal of a babymoon is to relax, not pack in a ton of activities. Find a destination where you can spend most of your time lounging and recharging, like a beach or resort with a pool.
- Stay Hydrated and Eat Well: Staying hydrated was one of the best things I did for myself on this trip. I also indulged in healthy, delicious meals that gave me energy and kept me feeling good.
- Indulge in Self-Care: Whether it’s booking a prenatal massage or simply making time to rest, prioritize self-care. This is your time to focus on yourself before your baby arrives.
Reflecting on the Trip: A Peaceful Goodbye to Pre-Baby Life
Looking back, this babymoon was the perfect goodbye to my pre-baby life.
It gave me the space to unwind, reflect, and mentally prepare for motherhood. I was able to enjoy the present, soak in the quiet, and give myself the closure I needed before stepping into this new chapter.
I highly recommend planning a babymoon if you can. It’s a chance to focus on your health and well-being, both physically and mentally. For me, Delray Beach provided the perfect backdrop for that.
