This copycat Tropical Smoothie Island Green smoothie is made with spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, and banana for a bright tropical green smoothie. Add fresh ginger to make it more like the Detox Island Green version.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh spinach, packed
  • 1/2 cup kale, stems removed and packed
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup cold water or coconut water
  • Optional for Detox Island Green: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • Optional for sweeter Island Green: splash of apple juice
  • Optional: ice, if using fresh fruit

Instructions

  • Add water or coconut water to the blender first.
  • Add spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, and banana.
  • For the Detox Island Green version, add fresh ginger.
  • Blend until completely smooth.
  • Add more liquid as needed to thin the smoothie.
  • Taste and adjust with more ginger, fruit, or a splash of apple juice if desired.
  • Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use water for a lighter, naturally sweet smoothie
  • Use apple juice if you want a sweeter smoothie-shop style version
  • Start with 1/2 teaspoon ginger if you prefer a milder flavor
  • For the regular Island Green version, leave out the ginger
  • For the Detox Island Green version, add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger and use water or coconut water
